“The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
“A Prayer from the Living” by Ben Okri
We have read two stories where the authors use death as a metaphor for change rather than an ending. Use those readings to analyze the way texts use death to make an argument about the human experience and/or civilization as a whole. What symbolic function does death have in these works and how does it address a broader thematic idea?
